radius of curvature with a convex mirror?
The radius of curvature of a convex mirror is 12.0 cm. The same toy is placed in front of this second mirror. If the distance of this toy from the mirror is 8.0 cm, where is the image formed?
Use lensmakers eqn:
1/o + 1/i = 1/-f, f = R/2, 1/i = -2/12 - 1/8
= -1/6 - 1/8
= -0.29
i = -1/0.29 = - 3.4 cm => behind the mirror.
Note: the focal length of a convex mirror is -ve.
