Learn About Some Fashionable Styles Of Men's Hats
Hats serve several purposes for men. Some keep the sun out of their eyes while enjoying outdoor fun. In the cold, winter months some are meant to keep in the heat while repelling the cold. Still others are there to cover up the spot on a man’s head that Mother Nature has wiped clean before he is ready to accept it. Whatever the reason for wearing a particular hat, it needs to be stylish. There are plenty of cool styles of men’s hats that are designed for both form and function.
Fedora hats are the hottest headwear on the market today. They were designed in the late 1800’s so that aristocrats could identify themselves as upper-class. As the 20th Century dawned, they became more generalized and began to experience mass market success. Once Hollywood luminaries such as Humphrey Bogart and Cary Grant started sporting them on film, fedoras became a craze. The hat has continued its success story right up to the present day. After all, who can picture Indianan Jones fighting Nazis without his trusty fedora perched atop his head?
Bowlers are another cool style of men’s hats that have history behind them. Created in the 1850’s, the bowler was made to be suitable for many budgets, making it one of the first mass produced hats. Their affordability appealed to all sorts of men, and one could hardly cross the street without meeting someone sporting a bowler hat. Bowler hats are also called derby hats, and are known for their distinctive rounded crown and stingy bottom brims. Employees in the equestrian field used them to protect their heads from low tree branches, but bowlers are now meant for any type of occasion, social or otherwise.
Combining the large brim of a cowboy hat with the sharply pointed crown of the safari hat is the outback hat. As you can tell by the name, the hat originated in the Australian Outback so that workers and developers could keep the sun’s harsh rays out of their eyes. When ‘The Man from Snowy River’ was released in the early 80’s, sales of the outback hat skyrocketed. That was nothing, however, compared to what happened when ‘Crocodile Dundee’ was unleashed several years later. Their design makes outback hats the perfect headgear while strolling about or working under the sun.
Men’s hats do not need to sacrifice style for function. They can look good while still getting the job done. It’s all about fashion and practicality all in one.
