The Tria laser is a diode laser, which means an electric current is needed to speed up the light inside the diode, and with the aid of special 'mirrors' the light is becoming very intense and the laser beam has a high joule (light energy) level.
The laser hair removal process works because light is turned to heat (thermal) energy when it is absorbed by dark matter. Just like a dark car in the sun will be warmer than a white car under the sun.
Because dark matter absorbs more light energy and turns it to heat, when the hair pigment is darker than the surrounding skin, the beam heats up the hair till the hair is destructed inside the follicle.
The TRIA home laser device you see today is the upgraded version of the former the system. The device has a fine sleek designed hand piece, for comfortable use and easier hair removal sessions.
At the tip of the hand piece, there is the laser projector, where the beam is projected from; on the top there are the digital displays for all the treatment related information, like energy level being used, safety green light, and battery life indication.
1. In order to perform a hair removal session, the TRIA device needs to be fully charged. The charging time was reduced and in the new model it is 1.5 hours to fully charge the system.
2. Before the laser treatment session, the skin needs to be clean from any other chemical substance like - Make up, lotions, shower oils, body creams and even perfumes. This is because the light may be reflected of the heat may cause side effects to these chemical substances.
3. For a better performance it is recommended that the hair will be shaved a day or two before, so the hair will be below the skin surface and not above. Waxing is not recommended because wax is pulling the hair from the root, and without a hair the energy will burn the skin instead.
4. The TRIA home laser device has a skin tone sensor to allow the person using it to make sure the beam is safe for the skin being treated. The skin tone sensor is close to the bottom of the hand set, once you have checked that the skin tone is lower than 'type 4' skin tone, you are clear to go. A green light will be lit at the top display to let you know you are safe.
5. Press the laser tip to the skin, and wait to hear the double beep, once the two beeps have been heard, the beam has been projected and the hand device can be moved to the next spot.
6. Make sure you overlap, since the laser light tip is very precise and at each pulse only a few millimeters have been treated, glide the tip slightly to the next spot. In the new model you do not need to lift and press again (the stamp motion). The Tria will function smoothly as long as the three skin sensors are in contact with skin, for safe operation reasons.
