John Make Naughy Cards Pants
The Naughty Cards pants - worn by John Daly at last week's Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland - are a sight to behold with saucy playing cards scattered randomly over a black background.
The California-based apparel mavericks have this to say. "What sets Loudmouth Golf apart from the run-of-the-mill lunatic label names is that while the psychedelic designs might appear to some as a little jokey, the clothing establishes its bona fides with a quality of fabric and workmanship that does them credit.
"This is not just a group of ageing hippies sitting around having a gas all day pushing their luck by seeing how far they can needle the establishment. These are dedicated golfers, keen businessmen and very able tailors.
"The fabric is a quality cotton with 3% spandex content to give the trews great comfort levels. They're long-lasting and very robust too, as one would expect of a premium label. Available sizes range from 26" to 50" waist and come in length options from Bermuda-style shorts to an un-hemmed 37 inch inside leg."
Loudmouth MD Larry Jackson is sanguine about how his label is seen by golfers and their hierarchy of apparel label 'cred'.
"Golfers are a very varied bunch that views golf clothing or buy golf clubs as either completely incidental or as vital components in performance equipment like a driver or a wedge... and all levels in between the two," explains Jackson.
"But Loudmouth has really carved its own niche among the golfing community. We see our customers as people of confidence, wit, intelligence and competitiveness. It's not to everybody's taste but that's why market economies flourish on choice and variety."
