What is the best soft/light Jrock music and where can I find it?
I’m looking for soft/light Jrock – particularly on Itunes, Amazon and other legal music download sites that don’t have a paid subscription like Rhapsody. I like to listen to:
- Hyde
- L'arc-en-ciel
- Some Duel Jewel
- Some Mucc
- Satsuki
- Aluto
Itunes doesn’t have a way to discover new artists from Japan (Ping doesn’t help much - just social networking integration). I once randomly typed in a song of Kagrra and found an Japanese artist instead! I don’t want to look for bands/songs/artists this way though… Any suggestions? What are your favorite soft/light Jrock bands? By that I mean no screaming, no shouting, soothing, peaceful, nice steady beat/rhythm, not too upbeat.
You would definitely like Versailles! I recommend "Prince". It is on Itunes.
Ai Otsuka (they spell it as "ootsuka" on Itunes) is more alternative/pop, but many of her songs have a light, peaceful Jrock sound such as "Yumekui" and "5:09 am".
Area 51 is definitely Jrock, but it is mixed with a classical theme...It is hard to explain, but you'll find it similar to Hyde's wailing vocals. Compare "Season's Call" to Area 51's "Close to...", all on Itunes.
Itunes also keeps getting albums like AnimeToons and Yukari Fukari interpretations, and some of them are quite good. They aren't the real songs, of course, but is a nice diversion.
