Course History

  • 1949

    An estate known as “Ethelwood” in northern Henrico County goes up for sale featuring a 12-room brick home, 5-acre front lawn, and 200 acres of pastureland for cattle.

  • 1958

    Hermitage Country Club acquires the Ethelwood estate with plans to build a golf course to accommodate their growing membership.

  • 1960

    Ethelwood Country Club opens

  • 1976

    Ethelwood Country Club closes due to interstate construction and re-routing

  • 1979

    Halfe Sink opens in the previous Ethelwood location featuring a new course designed by Joe Lee

  • 1982

    Halfe Sink is renamed to The Crossings Golf Club

  • 2024

    The Henrico Economic Development Authority purchases The Crossings Golf Club

  • 2026

    McConnell Golf acquires The Crossings Golf Club

About the Course

Nestled along the Chickahominy River in Glen Allen, Virginia, The Crossings Golf Club has long been recognized as one of Central Virginia’s premier public golf destinations. Originally designed by renowned golf course architect Joe Lee, the course earned a reputation for its thoughtful design, natural beauty and enjoyable playing experience, welcoming golfers of every skill level for decades.

Today, The Crossings is entering an exciting new chapter.

Through a partnership between McConnell Golf, the Henrico Economic Development Authority and the Henrico Sports & Entertainment Authority, the property is undergoing a comprehensive redevelopment that will reestablish The Crossings as one of the Mid-Atlantic’s premier public golf destinations.
