STREETCAR LEGACY

The Crossings Golf Club’s new identity draws inspiration from the historic Ashland Trolley Line, connecting the club to a defining chapter In Central Virginia’s transportation history.

Inspired by the region’s rich transportation history, The Crossings Golf Club’s new identity pays tribute to the electric streetcars that pays tribute to Richmond’s pioneering role as the birthplace of the world’s first successful electric streetcar system in 1888.

The Crossing’s logo features a 1920s-era electric streetcar bearing the initials “T” and “C” on its front.

Central to the new identity is the Ashland Trolley Line, whose route once ran near the present-day site of The Crossings Golf Club. This 14.8-mile streetcar line passed through Henrico County and crossed the Chickahominy River just 2.5 miles from the course. From 1907 to 1938, it carried passengers between Richmond and Ashland, connecting communities and contributing to the region’s growth and development

Today, the legacy of the former trolley line lives on through the Fall Line Trail, an ambitious multi-use trail project that is transforming sections of the historic route into a world-class paved pathway. Upon completion, the Fall Line Trail will span approximately 43 miles, connecting Ashland and Petersburg while preserving and celebrating the transportation heritage that helped shape Central Virginia.
